Advancements in Endodontic Technology
Technological advancements have allowed dental professionals to deliver seamless and pain-free treatment. Among the fields of dentistry, endodontics has experienced tremendous improvements from state-of-the-art technology over the years. Whether performing a root canal treatment or endodontic surgery, various tools assist with providing the best care for your teeth.
Here are some tools we use at York Hill Endodontics to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
Surgical Operating Microscope
This technology allows endodontists to perform the precise movements required for micro-surgery endodontics. Surgical operating microscopes provide a high level of magnification and illumination. By using this technology, endodontists can now see tiny malformations in anatomy never before possible. Surgical operating microscopes have paved the way to advance how we diagnose and provide endodontic care.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography
Shortened to CBCT, this technology provides highly accurate 3-D radiographic images that assist with diagnosing, planning, and treating endodontic disease. The machine captures a three-dimensional image by rotating around the patient. The result is an anatomically accurate representation of the patient’s teeth and jaws from various angles that traditional 2-D x-ray scans cannot achieve.
Digital Radiography
The health and safety of our patients are our greatest concern at York Hill Endodontics. Since 2010, we have relied on digital radiography to deliver safer and more accurate diagnostic capabilities. Compared to traditional radiography methods, digital radiography allows about an 80% reduction in radiation. While endodontic care requires multiple images for proper diagnosis, patients can rest assured that these x-ray images are completely safe! Furthermore, digital radiographs are stored electronically and can be sent to your general dentist anytime.
